Damn. That is -very- good. Rough sketch or not. The only part that really bothers me is the area around the left eye - it looks as though the base of his nose melds into the face. Perhaps a small line or a bit of shading could hint at some more shape there. Otherwise; good work!

Jon, wth, kicking ass and taking numbers and not telling me? You have a really good head, and I really like it. You know basic shading, and it looks good. I think you're really good with anatomy, actually, you pretty much know where everthing goes! The left eye might be a little large, and his neck might be a tad thick, but I also suspect the perspective is what makes it a little strange. hey, perspective does that. he seems to be looking down, yes/ since if this was straight on, his ear would be strecthed a little lower, down to the base of his nose.

i think you did a very good job! :) please start putting things together for a portfolio! pleaaaase!
